Day 1 U.S.A./Madrid
Depart the United States aboard your overnight transatlantic flight to Europe. The night will pass quickly, and you will soon be landing in Madrid.
Day 2 Madrid
Welcome to Madrid. After passing through necessary customs formalities, you will be met and transferred to your hotel, with the remainder of the day at leisure to begin exploring on your own.
Day 3 Madrid
Our city tour this morning includes the Prado Museum and the Royal Palace. This afternoon we’ll drive along the highway south of Madrid that takes us to the Imperial City of Toledo. We return to Madrid for dinner and accommodations at the hotel.
Day 4 Madrid/Zaragoza
After breakfast, early departure via Alcala de Henares to visit the old university (15th century) and Siguenza, where we will see the Cathedral. After this interesting stop we will proceed to the Monastery of Santa Maria de Huerta, one of the most beautiful religious monuments in Spain.
Day 5 Zaragoza/Lourdes
The city tour this morning will also include a visit to the Cathedral called the Sco. In the early afternoon, we’ll continue to Jace and, through beautiful pyrenean landscapes, via Pau, in the evening. Dinner and accommodations at hotel.
Day 6 Lourdes
This morning our walking tour of the city includes a visit to Bernadette’s house. This afternoon is at leisure to participate in the different ceremonies or private devotion. After dinner, we’ll attend the Torchlight Procession.
Day 7 Lourdes/Burgos
In the morning we travel towards the Spanish border to arrive in San Sebastian for lunch time. After independent sightseeing and lunch, our comfortable motorway bus ride will take us to Burgos for dinner and accommodations.
Day 8 Burgos/Leon
In the afternoon, we’ll drive via Castrogeriz. Then we’ll proceed to Villaicazar de Sirga and Carrion de los Condes before our drive to Mansilla de las mulas, and San Miguel de Escalada. In the late evening arrival at Leon for dinner and accommodations.
Day 9 Leon/Santiago de Compostela
This morning we’ll visit the Cathedral, the XI-XII century Sa Isidoro Basilica and San Marcos convent. Afterwards we’ll proceed to La Viren del Camino. We’ll arrive in Santiago de Compostela in the early evening. Dinner and accommodations at the hotel.
Day 10 Santiago de Compostela
Santiago de Compostela is one of the most famous shrines in the western world. A visit will also be paid to the Sar Collegiate cloister (XII century). Afternoon free at leisure. Dinner and accommodations at the hotel.
Day 11 Santiago de Compostela/Fatima
This morning, through a very picturesque route, we’ll enter Portugal. Along the Portuguese Atlantic coast we’ll continue to Porio where we’ll stop for a panoramic tour of this important city and for independent lunch. In the afternoon we’ll proceed to Fatima where we’ll arrive late in the evening. Dinner and accommodations at the hotel.
Day 12 Fatima
This morning we’ll attend two important shrine ceremonies and we’ll visit the Aljustrel children’s houses, the Batalha with its Santa Maria de Vitoria, Nazare and Alcabaca. Overnight in Fatima.
Day 13 Fatima/Lisbon
Depart to Lisbon. A tour of Lisbon will be provided, ascend St. George’s Castle for a panoramic view of the city and the statue of Christ the King, built by the Portuguese. Visit Jeronimo’s Monastery and the Tower of Belem. Overnight in Lisbon.
Day 14 Lisbon/USA
Today you bid farewell to Lisbon as you transfer to the airport for your return flight to the United States, taking with you so many wonderful memories of your “Shrines of Europe” tour.
