SAMPLE OF LEADING PORTUGAL AND SPAIN GOLF COURSES :
The best known course on the Costa del Sol, having hosted the 1997 Ryder Cup Matches. It is a course which invariably is in excellent condition throughout the season. The course demands precision from the tee in order to find the narrow fairways nestled between the cork trees. A strong nerve is required on the lightning fast greens.
Sotogrande – Old Course
One of the most recognized clubs on the Costa del Sol, having opened in 1964, it is maintained in immaculate condition and has long been considered one of the top courses in continental Europe. Sotogrande’s layout has well-established vegetation with pine, cork oaks, and eucalyptus and palm trees.
The San Roque Club – Old Course
The Old Course is rated amongst the finest in Europe, with tight sloping fairways lined by mature cork oak trees, demanding straight accurate driving. Strategic bunker placement and deceptive water hazards threaten all but the most precise approach shots. The greens are fast and contoured and the setting provides stunning mountain views.
Almenara Golf Club
Opened in the spring of 1998, this course has rapidly become one of the most popular courses in the area. Almenara is a haven for the golf enthusiast providing fantastic golf in some of the most beautiful settings in Europe. Nine holes are set beside a lake and nine over rolling hills scattered with cork oak and pine trees.
Alcaidesa Links Golf Club
This is an experience that cannot be found anywhere else in Spain. It is the closest you will come to a pure links layout. The course has benefitted from an extensive remodeling project resulting in a much more forgiving layout that is acceptable for all golfer abilities.
Monte Rei Golf Course
This Jack Nicklaus signature golf course is set to be a golfing masterpiece that uses the spectacular natural terrain of the area to present a challenging layout including natural water hazards, indigenous trees and plants and breathtaking views out to the sea and the countryside.
Quinta do Lago – South

This private club welcomes visitors year round. The varied vegetation gives each hole its own distinct flavor. The large, often difficult, greens are a different matter however, none more so than the heavily guarded 10th, a par 5 whose bordering lakes make it memorable for its natural beauty
Vale do Lobo – Royal Course
Designed by the legendary British golfer Sir Henry Cotton and upgraded in more recent times by the American golf architect Rocky Roquemore, Vale do Lobo offers some of the best golf in the Algarve. The 16th hole on the Royal Course is a par-3 which plays along the cliffs overlooking the Atlantic Ocean and is one of the most recognized holes in Europe.
Nestled in the mountains of Benahavis, Monte Mayor is one of Andalucía’s most spectacular golf courses. Designed by Jose Gancedo, it is a challenging course from 1st tee until the 18th green. The quality of the greens, the natural beauty of the locale and its quietness will make your round of golf unforgettable.
Designed by Jack Nicklaus, Montecastillo is a beautiful, reasonably undulated, course with artistically placed lakes and spectacular elevated tee boxes surrounded by rolling hills. The finishing 3 holes of this golf course guarantee thrilling moments as you stand atop hills overlooking your target.
