Dramatic England Tour

England travelDay 01
U.S.A. / London
Depart the United States aboard your overnight trans-Atlantic flight to Europe.  The night will pass quickly, and you will soon be landing in London.

Day 02
After passing through necessary customs formalities, you will be met by your Tour Director and transferred to your hotel.  On the way, enjoy a panoramic tour of London. 

Day 03
This morning you will take a walking tour of London’s theatre district, highlighting the history of some of famous theatres in the area between Covent Garden and Piccadilly.  This afternoon will take you on a backstage tour at the National Theatre on the South Bank.  You will return to the National Theatre this evening for a performance.

Day 04
The morning is free to do as you please in this marvelous city.  This afternoon you will visit The Globe, the original Shakespeare theatre situated by the River Thames.  Enjoy an evening play performance at one of London’s many theatres.

Day 05
London / Chichester
Depart London this morning.  You will visit Brighton this afternoon and take time to venture out on your own.  Your scenic drive continues on to Chichester.  Take the opportunity to explore this ancient town.  Enjoy an evening performance at the famous Chichester Theatre.

Day 06
Chichester / Bristol
Your journey today will take you to the quintessential English towns of Winchester and Salisbury. Journey onwards to Stonehenge.  Continue on to Bristol.  Points of interest include the Cathedral which was built in the 14th century and the Suspension Bridge over the Avon Gorge, which provides a spectacular view.  Enjoy an evening performance at England’s oldest working theatre, the Theatre Royal which first opened in 1766.

Day 07
Leaving Bristol this morning it is a short distance to Bath. Bath is noted for its hot springs which you will visit today.  Also take time to enjoy the art, architecture and, of course, the local tea shops, coffee houses and pubs.  Travel back to Bristol for an evening performance at New Vic, a studio theatre showing modern works.


Day 08
Bristol / Stratford Upon Avon
Today you will travel from Bristol via the Cotswolds, stopping to visit one of the fascinating villages.  Arrive in Stratford Upon Avon for a backstage tour and evening performance at the Royal Shakespeare Theatre.

Day 09
Stratford Upon Avon / Leeds
Your journey today takes you to some of the loveliest settings in England such as the area known as Derbyshire and the Peak District stopping to visit some of the interesting local towns such as Buxton and Bakewell.  Continue on to your hotel in Leeds.

Day 10
Travel this morning to York.  Upon arrival you will have a walking tour of the city including the Shambles and a visit to York Minster - the largest medieval cathedral in England. Return to Leeds for an evening performance at Leed’s Playhouse. 

Day 11
Leeds / London
Return to London via the ancient city of Cambridge. Visit King’s College and enjoy free time to explore and perhaps take a punt along the green and tranquil “backs”.  Return to London to attend a musical show tonight.

Day 12
Your morning is free in London. This afternoon you will visit the Theatre Museum Covent Garden followed by a backstage tour of the Drury Lane theatre.  Enjoy another theatre visit this evening.

Day 13
All day is yours to do as you please in this marvelous city.  Take a boat ride on the Thames River; continue sightseeing and exploring; shop along the streets of Bond, Regent, Oxford and Carnaby.

Day 14
Today you bid farewell to London as your motorcoach transfers you to the airport for your return flight to the United States, taking with you so many wonderful memories of your Drama Tour of England!
